It's Our Birthday! Celebrating 42 Years in Business
Conklin started as an office supply company in the mid 1950s. After coming under the ownership management of the Arnold family in 1981, Conklin established itself as a pioneer in office furniture recycling and remanufacturing. We set out on a mission 42 years ago to enable a circular economy where no material is left unaccounted for, all energy consumption is balanced, and all carbon emissions are offset. Our office furniture reconditioning and remanufacturing efforts offer endless opportunities for reuse and recycling while providing businesses with the best furniture options and services on the market.
We've has been through many transformations since 1981. In 2019, we found our home at 75 Appleton St in Holyoke, MA, housing all of our operations under one roof. Conklin is powered by nearly 900KWh clean electricity each year, thanks to the 2,600 solar panels housed on top of their 300k square foot facility. Our neighborhood has undergone major regrowth as a creative district. As one of the city's largest employers, we're proud to be part of Holyoke's economic revitalization.
The one thing about Conklin's history that has never wavered is our commitment to making meaningful decisions that impact tomorrow. We use the most sustainable processes to recondition and remanufacture office furniture. WHAT'S NEW? A YEAR IN REVIEW
NOW A STEELCASE ANSWER REMANUFACTURER
In early 2023, we announced that we are officially a Steelcase Answer® remanufacturer! We've specialized in remanufacturing Steelcase Avenir® workstations for decades. Before that, we were experts in remanufacturing Steelcase 9000® cubicles, and have obtained tons of knowledge over the years regarding many other workstation systems. Now, we're utilizing our knowledge and capabilities to expand our catalog towards remanufactured Steelcase Answer® products, a modern day systems solution.
OFFICIALLY A HUBZONE CERTIFIED BUSINESS
Since our last anniversary celebration, we officially became a HUBzone certified after two years of tireless efforts. The Historically Underutilized Business Zones program is designed to promote job growth, capital investment, and economic development in historically underutilized business zones, referred to as HUBZones. The program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities.
The program’s benefits for HUBZone-certified companies include competitive and sole source contracting, a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions, as well as subcontracting opportunities. The Federal government has a goal of awarding 3% of all dollars for Federal prime contracts to HUBZone-certified concerns.
